Tips & Tricks for Using Treatment Mask
- While shaving in the shower- If there’s one opportunity to multi-task that we never pass up, it’s Treatment Mask-ing while shaving. Before getting in the shower, detangle your dry hair with a wide-tooth comb—this will help stimulate the scalp and break up any product residue or sebum. After rinsing, apply Treatment Masque starting from the ends, then working your OUAI to the roots. Clip your hair up then start shaving as the shower’s steam helps the product penetrate your hair. Rinse with cool water.
- Before a workout- Apply Treatment Masque before your next sweat sesh as the heat and sweat from the workout will open the hair cuticle, allowing the product to absorb better. Rinse with shampoo at the roots using cool water.
- During your at-home spa day- Treating yourself to a little at-home TLC? For maximum moisture, leave Treatment Masque in for longer than five minutes. First, have a warm, damp towel nearby. Apply Treatment Masque then wrap the towel around your hair. Sit, scroll, then see how soft and shiny your hair feels after you rinse with cool water.
- For a sleek, shiny hairstyle- Going for a slicked-back bun or updo? Treatment Masque has a shiny, strong-hold finish, which means you can apply it while styling to create the ultimate glossy look.
FAQ
What's the difference between the two masks?
We know you love our OG Treatment Masque formula, which is why we didn't change it—Fine to Medium Hair Treatment Masque is just taking its place for hair that doesn't want to be OUAI'd down. Thick Hair Treatment Masque is our new formula designed for strands that need moisture all the OUAI up.
Which mask is right for me?
If you’re not sure whether to go with Fine to Medium Hair Treatment Masque or Thick Hair Treatment Masque, take our Hair Quiz. It’ll ask you a range of questions to determine whether you have Fine, Medium, or Thick hair.
Or you can try this quick trick: Simply pull your hair back. Do you see your scalp? If yes, go with Fine to Medium Hair Treatment Masque. If you can’t see your scalp, go for Thick Hair Treatment Masque.
Should I apply the mask on clean or dirty hair?
You wouldn’t put on a face mask over your makeup, so the same thinking applies here. For best results, before applying Treatment Masque, make sure your hair doesn’t have any product on it.
Can I wear the mask overnight?
Definitely! Before you get into bed, use a spray bottle to make your hair slightly damp. Then apply Treatment Masque from mid-shaft to ends, distributing it evenly with a wide-tooth comb. Throw your hair up in a bun and/or a sleep bonnet then rinse in the morning.
Should my hair be dry or wet when I apply the mask?
Your hair should be slightly damp and ideally warm when you apply Treatment Masque. Why? When your hair is warm, Treatment Masque will absorb into the hair shaft rather than simply sit on top.
Will the mask weigh my hair down?
Never. Both masks provide the same intense moisture to dry, damaged hair, but neither will weigh your hair down.
Are they safe for color-treated hair?
Of course. Both masks are safe for color-treated hair, keratin treatments, Brazilian blowouts, and chemically-treated hair.
Do they contain parabens?
Nope! Both masks are free of: SLS, SLES, parabens, phthalates, gluten, and animal testing.
Are they vegan?
No.
Is the tub recyclable?
Yup. We just got OUAI more sustainable. The Treatment Masque tub is made from PCR and 100% recyclable.
