Hello! I'm Candace Molatore; a Self-Love Advocate, Branding Consultant and Photographer based in Portland, OR. I have a passion for community and often chat about my self confidence, body positivity journey on @hey.candace and blog. My overall mission is to make everyone feel empowered in their own skin, and a lot of that work starts from within. Even on days where we're not feeling our best selves, self-love and self-care practices are so important! I'm really excited to take you through one of my own self-care practices on the OUAI Blog—my at-home spa day routine!
If I’m being real, 2020 isn’t turning out exactly how we pictured. During times that feel hard, having a strong self-care regimen is so important to me. Self-care can mean so much more than face masks or bubble baths, the important thing is that you’re setting aside time in the day to take care of you --whatever that may look like. For me, baths are a fantastic form of self-care, setting aside quiet time for myself to wind down after a long day or a long week, while also taking care of my skin.
First things first, I light some candles. The softer lighting really helps me to wind down from the day, and I love the glowy spa-like look that tea lights give off. After I light the candles I’m ready to start the bath.
Once the water is flowing at a temperature I like, I usually toss in a bath bomb. The OUAI Chill Pills dissolve into a soft moisturizing finish that leaves my skin feeling supple and so smooth after every bath!
After getting in and soaking up the warm water for a bit, I’ll smooth a little bit of OUAI's Body Cleanser onto a washcloth or my trusty dry brush I picked up from Beauty By Earth . I absolutely love the smell of this cleanser and it foams up so perfectly--I look forward to using it each time I step into the tub.
During the cooler months, my skin tends to feel a little dry. I love using scrubs on any areas that may need a little extra love, like my legs, feet and elbows. OUAI’s Scalp & Body Scrub is gentle yet super effective when it comes to moisturizing and scrubbing away drier patchy areas.
Another successful soak in the books and it’s time to head out of the tub. The first thing I reach for is some OUAI Rose Hair & Body Oil to give my body an extra boost of moisture; the scent is pretty exquisite as well!
I like to lock in the lightweight oil with a slightly heavier base so OUAI Body Crème is up next. When it comes to skincare, on my face or my body, I always like to use moisturizing products from lightest to thickest so each product gets its chance to sink into the skin.
If I’m really pampering myself, I’ll finish off with a spritz of fragrance like OUAI’s North Bondi Eau de Parfum. Sometimes I like to add a little onto my bathrobe or some fresh towels before I toss them into the dryer so they’re toasty warm and smelling great by the time I reach for them post-bath time.
