Is the Midi-Cut Right for you?

Even though plenty of celebrities and it-girls have jumped onto the short-hair ship with a ‘lob’ or ‘midi-cut’ ( a cut that’s shoulder-grazing, layered, and effortless-looking) you’re probably wondering how to know if the cut is right for you and your face shape? Good news; it can work for anyone.

The midi cut is a perfect for girls who haven’t had short hair before and want to experiment with a new length. It feels different without being drastic. It’s also great cut for the New Year (or new job, or promotion) as you can symbolically and literally get rid of those dead ends and start fresh!

The widespread adoption of the mid-length cut has to do largely with its versatility. A midi-cut can vary in 2-3 inches, it can look great on everyone. The key is in layering right for your hair type and face shape.

The midi-cut particularly flattering on round face shapes but longer face shapes and square can make it work with a side part, which can help balance their features. Tell your stylist that you want a cut with lots of movement and versatility, that way you don’t get locked into a cut that can only be styled one way.

The key to a perfect midi-cut is minimal layers with lots of texture throughout the bottom while maintaining a heavy weight line. Will you go ‘under the scissors’? Share your lob-selfies with #OUAI.
