Some occasions call for a topknot, others for textured waves. But when you're in need of a hairstyle that falls between the two, this effortless textured low knot is the OUAI to go. Created by UK hairstylist Sophie Sugarman, the style starts with a set of waves then a ponytail, and finally, a low knot. We like to think of it as the low bun's really beautiful cousin. To wear the look at your next work party, date night or even wedding, keep reading for Sophie's step-by-step.

  1. Prep dry hair with OUAI Memory Mist Heat Protectant
  2. Using the GHD Platinum+ 1-inch Styler, create bends and movement within the hair
  3. Apply IGK Beach Club Texture Spray to give added texture and volume
  4. Take a section from top of ear to the crown on both side and clip away towards the face
  5. Tie the rest of the hair into a low ponytail (don’t smooth over too much as you want to maintain that undone texture)
  6. Split the ponytail into two sections then start knotting the hair and secure with pins
  7. Bring the side sections into the knot softly and secure with pins
  8. Apply OUAI Matte Pomade from mid-lengths to ends or wherever you see fit (I love to pinch the hair to increase the texture and shape. Don’t be afraid to rough it up)
