In case you missed it, we're launching Volumizing Hair Spray (!!!) in less than two weeks to bring you 80's-worthy volume. Riding that same vintage wave, we thought we'd throw it back to one of our favorite day-three-hair-worthy hairstyles: Madonna's grunge-and-go waves from her silver screen debut in the 1985 film Desperately Seeking Susan. We're not saying you should watch it because The New York Times named it one of the ten best films of 1985—nope. More like because if you're into saving time in the morning, Madonna's mane in this movie will inspire you to wash and wear forever. Scroll down for a step-by-step to the look for girls with straight hair, and another one for girls with curly/wavy hair. Pair the retro waves with a big bow around your crown, throw a pair of structured sunnies on your mug, and you're 80's, baby.

For girls with straight hair:

  1. Prep damp hair with Wave Spray
  2. Rough dry with your favorite blow dryer
  3. Spray hair in sections with Memory Mist then add definition to random strands by creating bends with a flat iron
  4. Spray Texturizing Hair Spray from roots to ends for grungy texture
  5. Rub Rose Hair & Body Oil on ends for a shiny, almost-wet look

    For girls with wavy/curly hair:

    1. Apply a 1-3 dollops of Air Dry Foam (back in stock!) on towel-dried hair and let dry
    2. Spray Texturizing Hair Spray from roots to ends for grungy texture
    3. Rub Rose Hair & Body Oil on ends for a shiny, almost-wet look
