Summertime and the hairstyles are easy. If your mane’s summer motto sounds something like ours, keep reading. To kickstart the fun in the sun season, beauty and lifestyle YouTuber Valeria Loren is showing us how she styles one hair scarf two different ways—half-up textured curls and an inverted ponytail with a braided scarf. Hairstyle 1: Half-Up Textured Loose Curls with Head Scarf
Best on: Clean hair as you want fresh, defined curls. Add texture or grit with styling products as needed.
My hair type: Wavy, curly; medium to long; blunt cut with layers on fringe (long bangs).
Step 1: Starting with clean hair, add some very loose curls for dimension and texture. I prefer to only curl midway of my hair and leave the ends out for a beachy, relaxed look. Make sure to always use the OUAI Heat Protection Spray before blow drying or adding hot tools to your hair routine.
Step 2: Separate your hair into 2 sections and start playing around with the height of the top section's ponytail. I sprayed some OUAI Volume Spray prior to blow drying for volume on the crown. You can add some OUAI Texturizing Hair Spray for better hold.
Step 3: Wrap the head scarf around the ponytail, secure a clear elastic a couple times and then tie it into a knot or bow to finish the look! You can now apply some more Texturizing Hair Spray on specific strands or anywhere you need a little more lift.
Hairstyle 2: Inverted Ponytail with Braided Hair Scarf
Best on: Clean or 1-2 day old hair.
Step 1: Start by sectioning off bangs, fringe, or any face-framing pieces then spray OUAI Texturizing Hair Spray to keep the front pieces styled with some volume.
Step 2: Secure the rest of the hair into a low ponytail with a clear elastic and apply some OUAI Finishing Crème for a slick, flyaway-free ponytail before the next step.
Step 3: Using both of your hands, separate the hair into 2 sections to create an empty, even space near the nape of your neck, just above the elastic of your low ponytail.
Step 4: Lift the ends of the ponytail up into that empty space you just created, looping it through back down. Then push up the hair elastic to secure the looped pony.
Step 5: Place the hair scarf around your head and secure from underneath the ponytail.
Step 6: Braid the hair all the way down using the scarf’s 2 sections for a fun braid moment. I love using the OUAI Matte Pomade for extra grip and hold and to tame flyaways.
