Who is a good candidate for Supplements?

Supplements work for everyone, but I recommend them especially to those who have noticed changes in their hair, for instance, a lessening of volume, shine or moisture. Taking supplements can’t create new follicles, but it will help restore hair to its optimal condition and increase thickness and moisture.

Are the Supplements safe to take while pregnant and/ or breastfeeding?

Always ask your doctor before taking supplements. These have not been formulated specifically for pregnant or breastfeeding moms, and I recommend only taking supplements that are specifically formulated for pregnant and breastfeeding moms.

Is it safe to take the Supplements in combination with my usual vitamins (i.e. Multivitamin, Vit C, iron, etc)?

Yes, but in the interest of being 100% safe, ask your doctor to make sure you are not over-indexing on a particular vitamin.

Are you able to mix and match the Supplements?

You can certainly mix supplements to achieve the desired result, but I recommend against taking the oily supplement with the dry hair supplement. Take the #MyOUAI Hair Consult to see what the best combination is for you.

Will the Supplements make other hair on my body grow?

The short answer is no. The long answer is that humans are born with a finite number of follicles all over your body, including your scalp. You cannot “make” more follicles and our supplements are free of hormones

When will I start seeing results?

As a consequence of the natural hair cycle, it takes at least 90 days for the results of supplements to become visible.

What happens after the 90 days? Do I need to continue use?

If you like the effects you’re seeing with supplements after 90 days (we think you will), then you continuing taking them to maintain the results.

Do the supplements contain fish, gluten or lactose?

The supplements are gluten and lactose-free, but they do contain fish oil.

What impact will I see on my skin and nails?

Because the nourishing vitamins and minerals found in our supplements go to the whole body, you should also see positive benefits in your skin and nails. The mineral requirements of hair, skin, and nails are similar.

Are supplements effective in treating baldness in men?

It depends on the reason for hair loss in men. I find supplementation especially useful when men start experiencing hair thinning, or at the start of hair loss. Taking enough protein is important as well (our supplements have added amino acids - the building blocks of protein).  But once your hair is gone, there are very few, if at all, any over the counter medications that will work.

How do the OUAI supplements differ from other supplements on the market?

The OUAI supplements are different from others on the market in several ways. The first is that they need to be taken only once daily, as opposed to many options that require being taken twice or three times per day.

Second, the supplements were developed by a doctor with a deep knowledge of what vitamins and minerals most people are lacking. Modern living has us eating more processed foods, spending less time in the sun and experiencing increased exposure to stress. All of these things can result in vitamin deficiencies which the OUAI supplements are designed to counteract.

Beyond vitamin deficiencies, using heat, color and styling products can strip the hair or nutrients, preventing it from growing long and strong.  At OUAI, we have developed a multi-vitamin supplement that also contains amino acids, herbs and trace minerals in the proper concentrations for hair growth.

Unlike most hair supplements on the market, ours are focused on the elements we tend to be low on that are essential for healthy hair (e.g. OUAI always has Vitamin D added, because it is found in too few foods, and many people do not get the appropriate amount from the sun.)

Additionally, while many supplements contain minerals, OUAI offers them with the proper accompanying mineral for maximum efficacy. Here’s an example, Phosphorus works with Calcium, and you need Vitamin D to help your body absorb the Calcium. All 3 of these minerals need to be together for the individual minerals to work at their peak.

In a nutshell, our supplements look at the big picture that is your life, and we have developed a well-balanced nutritional supplement plan to help you achieve healthy, beautiful, shiny hair.

Will Thinning replenish hair lost with age?

Hair loss is very complicated, and can also be the result or hormonal changes, which supplements do not address. That said, there is always a benefit in taking a properly balanced nutritional supplement, especially one containing amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein. Many people don’t consume enough protein as they age, which can have a negative impact on the hair.

Will taking Oily minimize help with an oily complexion?

Yes, taking the Oily supplement should help minimize an oily complexion. Our supplements are designed to help you achieve positive changes in your hair as well as your skin and nails, but individuals vary.

What is considered normal hair loss?

You have around 100,000 hairs on your head, blondes tend to have more, redheads less and hair loss between 50-100 hairs a day is considered normal. Hair grows about an inch a month, so that is what we should be aiming for with our supplements.  You should also see an increase in thickness in about 6 months (because of the way hair grows and the time it takes).  We know that might be a long time, we call our supplements an “investment” into your hair.  Just like it took many months, probably years for hair loss to start (yes it did start that long ago, but you only became aware of it much much later) it also takes months for you to see a definitive change in your hair.

Can the Dry Hair Supplement help with dandruff?

There are many different causes for dandruff, including dry skin, sensitivity to hair products, psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, eczema and an overgrowth of yeast. Our Dry Hair Supplements may help improve dandruff caused by a dry scalp; however, we don't consider it a dandruff product and it CAN NOT cure or treat the most common causes of dandruff.

If I have dry ends and oily roots, which supplement is right for me?

Supplements address the hair that grows at the root, so those with oily roots should take the Oily Hair Supplements and use topical treatments, for instance, the Treatment Masque and Hair Oil, to address parched ends. We recommend taking the Hair Consult to get a full prescription for your hair type.

If I'm taking two supplements, should I alternate, taking one in the morning and one at night?

Spacing out supplement consumption throughout the day is not necessary.

My pee is bright yellow. Is that normal?

If you’ve ever taken a daily multivitamin you too might have noticed your urine turning a bright yellow-ish color. What’s happening is that urine will turn a bright, sometimes neon, yellow in response to riboflavin. Riboflavin, also known as vitamin B2, is a common ingredient in almost all multi-vitamins. OUAI uses it because it is important to convert food into energy that can be used by your cells (and hair follicles) and is a powerful antioxidant. Your body cannot sire Vitamin B2 so a daily dose is necessary.
